Sharmin Smith for President 2020

Oprah hit the nail on the head when she said that she did not have the DNA to be president.  For many years we've heard that all the presidents were related and thanks to a young genealogist she was able to connect them all back to one King in History.  We all know the story whether we realize we know the story or not.

We all know the story of Camelot, of King Richard the Lionheart, King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table,  we all know who Robyn Hood is.  What we don't understand is how the presidents are connected to them, or how it still impacts us today.

King Richard was gay and had no interest in producing an heir, so when he went off to fight in the Crusades he picked his 11 year old nephew to be his heir.  He left his younger brother John in charge and John was the one taxing and torturing the citizens to death in Richards absence.  John decided he wanted to be King and he killed Richard and Arthur, the world would be a different place today if Arthur had been King.  All of our Presidents are descendant of King John.  John is credited with signing the Magna Carta, but he did not sign it voluntarily.  He was forced to sign it by the Feudal Barons who held him to task and forced him to give back some of the taxes he had taken from his subjects.  These Barons were responsible for sharing these taxes with the poor people in their area.  This is where trickle down economics began.

We have been fighting this same battle with greedy politicians for a thousand years.  It seems impossible to believe, yet still it exists. It is going to take someone from within this bloodline to fight this battle and thanks to not only can I confirm that I am part of this bloodline, I have the desire to fight the battle.  Thousands of people alive today are part of this royal bloodline, but the desire to fight this battle only rises up in a select few.

Throughout history the people who have chosen to fight this battle have died gruesome deaths.  I know that getting into this fight is dangerous for me and for my family.  I also know that no matter what some day I will die.  Some day I will have to stand tall in front of my maker and meet my ancestors and when they ask me what I did while I was here to try and fix this mess, I'd like to have a good answer. I am simply working on my answer.

As a regular citizen, a member of the 99% I know that I am under qualified for this job.  We have put the most qualified people in the country up for this job and they have failed.  The normal rules do not apply any more and every day I hear calls for a regular person to step up.  I am stepping up to the plate and doing what is in my heart to help save our country.  I could spend the rest of my life ignoring the calling in my heart to run for this office because I know in my mind I'm not good enough.  Or I can step out of my comfort zone, introduce myself, and let you decide if my heart is in the right place.

Religious Freedom

I am a Christian. I am not a evangelical.  What does that mean?  That means my personal relationship with my Christ and Savior is exactly that, it's my personal relationship.  I was not raised in the church, I was introduced to religion through my ex-husband. I was baptized in a Southern Baptist Church in west Texas.  I was excited to be part of something I had heard about growing up but did not experience.  My ex-husbands parents were the parents I had always wanted and never known.  They were kind, loving, caring and compassionate, their church was a central part of their lives.  My ex-husband and I would do nightly Bible readings where he made sure I read all the passages that indicted I needed to be submissive to him.  Submission was simply not compatible with my personality.

I began to participate in what I came to believe was a very dangerous game.  I called the game "Quote The Bible".  Within the Bible there are endless opportunities for you to respond to any situation with a specific quote.  It became painfully obvious to me that what I was doing was committing spiritual warfare against other Christians.  It didn't take long before I chose to no longer participate in this game as I decided it was not beneficial to either party.

I began to embrace the concept of being spiritual, rather than religious.  I learned about Gnosticism and the foundation that Christianity was built on.  I have watched for years as many other people have turned away from traditional churches and embraced these same spiritual beliefs. Especially as the pedophilia scandal rocked the Catholic Church. Yes, you can find God under a rock, or in the smile of a child.  No, you do not have to attend a brick and mortar church and listen to a stranger tell you how your relationship with your creator must be.

Throughout the last 20 years I have had many opportunities to investigate other churches to see if the issues I had experienced in one building existed within another. I have been saddened at each opportunity and the last time I set foot in a church I sat through one of the most despicable sermons I'd ever heard.  It was a church in Central Ohio where the pastor was gone and an elder was managing the flock in his absence.  This elder started the sermon off with telling everyone that Jesus had come back and died to wipe out all sin, and he believed that.  That's just not what he was called that day to discuss.  That day he felt it was important to share that he personally felt that women were the root of all evil and if Adam had just done his job, and controlled his woman, then none of us would be in this mess today.  He made it a point to call up people that the Holy Spirit told him needed extra prayer for the saving of their souls.  He called about a dozen women up to the front of the church and prayed for each of them.

As a Christian, I have heard this sentiment many times. Recently a Catholic Bishop has even taken to blaming pedophilia on too many women in the church.  It seems everywhere we turn women are the problem, and men hold no responsibility in the destruction of the world.  I simply do not agree.  I do not think this is logical, reasonable, nor do I think it is consistent with the teachings within the Bible. That doesn't change the fact that this message is everywhere.

What I believe is that it's easy to point the finger at someone else, rather than look at yourself and acknowledge we could be doing things better.  I continue to hear people complain about sin and sinners and not acknowledge that Jesus' death wiped out sin.  He came and died for all of us and we should not be passing judgment on each other.  It certainly is not going to benefit the church to blame women for their priests' sexually abusing children. That logic is going to further reduce church attendance and drive people farther away from religion.

We have moved into a new world with regards to religion and government.  The start of this Religious Task Force through the Department of Justice is just another step in a long dark history of religion being used against us, rather than to unite us.

Our Constitution offers each of us the Right of Religious Freedom.  The question is what does that mean to the people who are on this task force? The Constitution doesn't just offer us the right of religious freedom, it offer us the right from religion. In this country, we do not have to participate in religion if we do not want to.  We can choose whatever religion we want, even if our government doesn't like it.  It doesn't matter what religion our president or his cabinet is, they do not get to impose their beliefs on us.

As a Mayflower Descendant I am well aware that the Pilgrims came here escaping religious persecution.  What I didn't understand until I dove into my ancestry was that my grandfathers' came to America after their grandfather was burned alive for not changing religion.

I am descendent from John Rogers, widely credited with being the Editor of The Bible.  When Queen Mary "Bloody Mary" decided to turn England from Protestant to Catholic, John Rogers was the first person she burned alive.  The framers of our Constitution did not make Religious Freedom one of their number one priorities because they wanted to force someone else to believe what they believed.  They made it a priority because they didn't want to be forced to believe something they didn't, and they knew the consequences of their government being aligned with religion.

Church attendance is lower now than it has ever been.  It's not because people do not believe in God or Jesus.  It's not because they do not pray. It's because they do not like the message that is being delivered by the people running the church.  They can read the book on their own and ask their own questions, thanks to the internet, they can find dozens of interpretations of each passage.  The people of our country are smart enough to know when they are being manipulated.  We do not need our government trying to control our spiritual relationships.

Now more than ever we need political leaders who understand why our Freedom of Religion is so important and why we cannot allow our government to get involved.  We do not want to  find ourselves in a situation where religious leaders are preaching politics from the pulpit, or where politicians are demanding our participation in religion.  For years I've heard fears bubbling up that Sharia Law is coming to America, and now we are facing that reality.

We are a Republic. We are a nation of laws. Religion does not control us or our laws and now is the time for us to demand that our politicians keep their personal religious beliefs to themselves.

Rise Red Dawn Generation

I grew up in a different America than we live in today.  I grew up in an America during a time where my parents could work menial jobs and afford a home and new cars.  I grew up in an America where our schools were ranked as the best in the world.  I grew up in a America where we were trying to embrace our fellow citizens regardless of their race, religion or sexual preference.  I grew up in an America where we were more afraid of  the Russians than we were our fellow Americans.  I grew up in the Red Dawn Generation.

Today my children are growing up in a completely different America.  They live in a country where we are divided and not united.  They live in fear daily of being shot at school, the movie theater, walking down the street or sleeping in their beds.  They live in a world where their fellow students openly joke about why they will shoot first when they come to shoot up the shool.  They live in a world where they watch police shoot citizens holding phones.  They live in a world where the Russians have succeeded in dividing us and conquered us through our fears.

The world is a different place today and I too long for the days when I thought America was great.  When I knew my fellow citizens were united in the belief that Russia was the enemy and they would do anything to destroy us. Together we worked as Americans, hand in hand, to destroy their Communist regime with the belief it would make the world a better place.  We did not destroy the Russians.  We made them more resolute than ever to destroy America.

Today we live in a reality where our fellow citizens have openly embraced Russia because they think Russians are our friends, while they believe the person living next door is the enemy.  This is not the America I grew up in and I refuse to believe this is the way we restore our nation to greatness.

Today we live in a reality where Russians have quietly infiltrated and taken control of the NRA, our Elected officials, Social Media, and the the basic foundation that made us as a nation strong enough to defeat them.  The Russians have managed to convince us that our neighbors are our enemies.  They have managed to convince us that we cannot trust our family or our friends because of our political affiliations and they have capitalized on our rights to destroy us.  Our Freedom of Press, of Speech, everything that makes America Great has been twisted to turn us against each other and destroy ourselves, because they could never destroy us on their own.

We are living in a time in our country where it's easy to not speak to anyone. Where social media and a sound bite are more meaningful than a handshake and eye contact.  Where a flag painted on top of a car is more meaningful than the flag that was specifically designed to unite us as one country. It's only when we are willing to admit that we have a problem that we can fix it.

I refuse to believe that so much wrong with out country that it can't be fixed with a little common sense and compassion.

I refuse to believe that Russia has our best interests at heart.  I refuse to believe that the rest of the Red Dawn Generation, like myself, is going to stand by and let the Russians invade our country while we stand by and watch.

I have launched my Presidential Campaign because I still believe in the America I grew up in.  I believe each of us and our children deserve better than this chaos that continues to reign around us.  We have become trapped in a abusive relationship with our elected officials and some of them are literally working with our enemies because it lines their pockets with cash. Americans have wanted a President who would run America like a business for Americans for a long time. That means running America for Americans, not for the purpose of improving one person or one families bottom line, but for the purpose of improving all of America's bottom line.

I do not believe who we have sitting in the White House today cares about the bottom line of every day Americans.  I do not believe the position of the Presidency should be used to negotiate personal business deals and I do not believe that's why he was elected to office. I know it is difficult to admit we are wrong, that we were taken advantage of, again. Knowing is half the battle and we are going to need all hands on deck to win this one.

Today I make a Call to Action for every American who still cares about keeping America united.  Stand in solidarity with me and help me fight what will be the greatest battle of our lifetime and quite possibly in the history of our nation.  No one can do this alone, certainly not be.  Together, we can accomplish anything.

Now is the time to stand and be counted.  If you are not registered to vote, get registered.  Check with your friends and family, your neighbors and coworkers.  We have the greatest democracy in the world and not even the Russians can destroy us without our help.  Let's stop helping them, and start helping ourselves.
